Dr. Marilyn Taylor is a professor in the School of Leadership Studies. Her work focuses on emergent learning, organizational culture change, values-based leadership and graduate leadership education. She has also taught and continues to supervise doctoral students' research in the Doctor of Social Science program. Her current research interests include emergent learning; values based leadership and values based leadership education; wisdom in leadership; organizational culture and innovation; and pragmatic inquiry in social science.

Dr. Taylor joined Royal Roads in 2006 as a professor in the School of Leadership Studies. She is academic lead for the Graduate Certificate in Values-Based Leadership. In 2008, she led the development of the Institute for Values-Based Leadership and was its director from 2009 to 2014. She is a Barrett Values Centre partner. Prior to Royal Roads, Taylor was a professor at Concordia University for 23 years. At Concordia, she served as chair of the Department of Applied Social Science and director of the Centre for Human Relations and Community Studies; she was a key designer of the Master of Arts in Human Systems Intervention.

She earned her PhD in Educational Theory from the University of Toronto, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. She completed a Master of Science in Counselling at the University of Wisconsin and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Sociology at the University of Saskatchewan.
