Grant Abrams is a partner in Deloitte's finance and performance management practice with a focus on serving public sector clients. Grant has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University with concentrations in Finance and Accounting and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. With over 18 years of professional services experience, he has advised government organizations in the areas of finance transformation, planning and budgeting, performance reporting and analytics, and enterprise cost reduction. He has worked with dozens of public sector organizations to help transform their operations and achieve greater value for money.

Schwieg 150JAY SCHWIEG, MBA, Senior Manager, Finance and Performance Management Practice, Deloitte Canada

Jay Schwieg is a senior manager in Deloitte's finance and performance management practice, with nearly 10 years of financial management experience. Jay focuses on serving government clients and in recent years has been increasingly focused on technology-enabling planning, budgeting and forecasting processes, and leveraging analytics to support decision-making. Jay has also supported government organizations in transforming the finance function, including service delivery models and organizational change; optimizing investment management processes; selecting financial systems; costing; and managing real property assets.

TOM CROSS, Solution Principal, SAP Canada

Tom Cross is a Solution Principal at SAP Canada. He has been in the SAP Enterprise Performance Management organization for the last 10 years and in the enterprise application software industry for the past 20 years. Tom has been collaborating with many Canadian clients across both the commercial and public sectors in areas including health care, the federal government, and municipalities. He has helped many of these organizations to drive new innovation and improvements to their existing planning and forecasting processes. Tom has also worked with a number of global organizations in the area of planning "Best Practices" and has implemented planning solutions for a number of clients in Canada and Europe.


ARUN THANGARAJ, Director General and Deputy Chief Financial Officer, Financial Planning and Management at Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada

With over 18 years of federal government experience, Arun Thangaraj is currently the Deputy Chief Financial Officer (DCFO) and Director General of the Financial Resource Management and Planning division at the DFATD. He is responsible for all aspects of financial planning and management in operational, capital, grants and contributions funding for the new Department. As a senior executive, he has performed leadership roles in corporate services including financial planning, budgeting, and business process reengineering and reporting to central agencies. He has extensive experience with large-scale transformation initiatives, real property projects, international security, Crown corporations and procurement. He often provides strategic advice and guidance to Ministers, Deputy Ministers and senior executives in the public and private sector on a wide range of complex financial management issues.

In addition to his very busy schedule, Arun also teaches human resource management and financial management in the public sector field at Carleton University.

Arun, a CMA, holds an MBA, Masters of Public Administration.

CHRISTINE SPERO, Director of Finance, Canada Post Corporation

Christine Spero is a Finance Director at Canada Post with nearly 20 years of financial experience working in provincial and federal Crown Corporations. Christine has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. In her current role, Christine's focus is on performance reporting, analytics and planning of Canada Post's significant portfolio of capital projects. She has extensive experience in regulatory- and activity-based costing, planning and budgeting, and compliance auditing.


RANDY LEGAULT, Director, Planning and Corporate Management Practices Directorate, Health Canada

In his 25 years with the federal public service, Randy Legault has accumulated a wealth of policy and program experience.  His seven-year sojourn with the Treasury Board Secretariat appealed to his "big picture" approach, while providing an appreciation for the intersection of departmental operations with the role of the Budget Office. Since joining Health Canada's Chief Financial Officer Branch, he has worked on teams recognized for "Innovation and Creativity" and "Contribution to the Health of Canadians." An accidental manager, his current challenge is to support the CFO in leading Health Canada towards aligning it's operational and financial planning and reporting. Randy is a member of an award-winning SAP business process and systems deployment team, using SAP Business Planning and Consolidation, and BI tools, in unprecedented ways.

TANU MOHAN, Manager, Public Sector Analytics and Digital Practice, Deloitte Canada

Tanu Mohan is an Information Management and Analytics professional with several years of experience in enterprise information, web content management, and analytics. An AIIM Certified Information Professional (CIP), Tanu has assisted clients in a variety of industries resolving challenges ranging from developing roadmaps for client's future vision state to implementing superior customer solutions realizing the vision state.

As a data enthusiast, Tanu's passion about use of information to drive positive outcomes and primary focus on advanced analytics and visualization have led to her current integral role within Deloitte's Public Sector Analytics and Digital practice.
