Chief Financial Officer, Canadian Museum for Human Rights

Susanne Robertson, CPA CA, is a chartered accountant with a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Manitoba.

After articling with Price Waterhouse, Susanne held senior management positions with Shelter Canadian Properties Limited (a national property management and real estate development company) and Datamark Systems Inc. (a national printing company) before joining the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights as its Chief Financial Officer and Project Manager in early 2007.

In September 2008, Susanne was appointed the Chief Financial Officer of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR), the first new national museum to be created in over 45 years. CMHR was the first national museum to be built outside the National Capital Region and one of the first to be digital, interactive and leading edge. Its collection of human rights stories stimulates thought, dialogue and action and creates inspiring encounters with human rights.

As one of the first two staff members, Susanne was involved in the development of all aspects of the Museum including its organizational structure, staffing, policies and procedures, as well as overseeing the construction of the complex and iconic building while managing the $351m capital budget.

Susanne has her ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and is a member of the Financial Executives International (FEI) Canada. Susanne was the recipient of CPA Canada's 2016 Financial Leadership (CFO) Award of Excellence in Public Sector Financial Management.
