Chief Financial Officer, Canadian Museum for Human Rights
Susanne Robertson, CPA CA, is a chartered
accountant with a bachelor's degree in business administration from
the University of Manitoba.
After articling with Price Waterhouse, Susanne held senior
management positions with Shelter Canadian Properties Limited (a
national property management and real estate development company)
and Datamark Systems Inc. (a national printing company) before
joining the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights as its
Chief Financial Officer and Project Manager in early 2007.
In September 2008, Susanne was appointed the Chief Financial
Officer of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR), the first
new national museum to be created in over 45 years. CMHR was the
first national museum to be built outside the National Capital
Region and one of the first to be digital, interactive and leading
edge. Its collection of human rights stories stimulates thought,
dialogue and action and creates inspiring encounters with human
As one of the first two staff members, Susanne was involved in
the development of all aspects of the Museum including its
organizational structure, staffing, policies and procedures, as
well as overseeing the construction of the complex and iconic
building while managing the $351m capital budget.
Susanne has her ICD.D designation from the Institute of
Corporate Directors and is a member of the Financial Executives
International (FEI) Canada. Susanne was the recipient of CPA
Canada's 2016 Financial Leadership (CFO) Award of Excellence in
Public Sector Financial Management.
