It was a busy Winter and Spring for the FMI St. John's Chapter.
Its well-attended session in February featured a provincial update
from Terry Paddon, the Auditor General of Newfoundland and
Labrador. A half-day session, "PSAB Update", followed in March with
Michael Puskaric and Dave Warren from the Public Sector Accounting
Board (PSAB) in Toronto.
On May 24th, the Chapter welcomed Dale Schattenkirk, a Director
with KPMG's Strategy and Operations practice in Toronto. His
presentation centered on understanding the short history of "Lean
in the Public Sector" versus its lengthy run in private enterprise.
He also delved into the misconceptions, paradigms, and stigmas
attached to full Lean implementation.
Rounding out the year's program, FMI St. John's presented
"Becoming a Digital Organization, Upping Your Digital DNA" on June
28th. A journey through the digital evolution, Chad Griffin,
Eastern Canadian Leader for Deloitte Digital, provided
thought-provoking insight into how digital your organization is
today, how digital it needs to become, and the strategies to get
there. This session was followed by a Networking Wine and Cheese to
thank all Chapter members for their continued support.
The St. John's Chapter Board is presently planning the 2017-2018
program and will endeavour to carry-on the Chapter's success with
new and exciting topics and presenters.
