St. John's Chapter News

St John 's Eng

2014-2015 was a highly successful year for the St. John's Chapter. A total of nine sessions were hosted with an average of 80 attendees at each, and ending the year with a membership count of 155. This success is due, in no small part, to a dedicated Board of Directors who approached their duties with passion and diligence.

Special recognition must be given to Pinki Kumar, who has for the past number of years contributed her hard work and enthusiasm as President of the St. John's Chapter. Pinki has stepped down to focus on other volunteer opportunities and to concentrate on her personal consulting firm. Pinki will be missed greatly, but will still be available to contribute as Chapter Past President.

The Chapter's Board of Directors held its 2015-2016 planning meeting on September 2nd where they reviewed the impressive results of the past year. Given that the St. John's Chapter is hosting the fmi*igf Public Sector Management Workshop (PSMW) in June 2016, it was decided that only five sessions would be scheduled for 2015-2016 in order that the Chapter could focus on this major learning event. In planning the year's activities, every effort was made to: ensure there would be speaker representation from both provincial and federal levels of government; offer major corporate supporters the opportunity to host sessions; and, at the same time, select session topics requested and suggested by Chapter members.

The Chapter held its first session on September 25th and hosted Milt Isaacs, President of ACFO. His presentation challenged some of the established thinking around job creation, corporate taxes and globalization. Attendees were encouraged to become more engaged in conversations about truly sustainable societies.
