A guiding principle for fmi*igf is partnerships - bringing together employers, employees, education and government to meet the current and future needs of Canadian financial professionals.

The fmi*igf is involved with a network of like-minded organizations which exchange information, resources and knowledge.

Through these affiliations the fmi*igf's partnering arrangements are designed to create mutual benefits for the fmi*igf organization, our members and the contributing business partners.

fmi*igf's has well-established partnerships with the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada), as well as  our American-equivalent organization, the Association of Government Accountants.

The Affiliates Advisory Group (AAG) was established in 2009 as a formal working group of fmi*igf. The mission of the AAG is to bring together academia, not-for-profit organization, industry and government executives to exchange information, support professional development, improve communication and understanding, solve issues, and build partnership and trust, thereby supporting fmi*igf's vision of "Excellence in Public Sector Financial Management".

fmi*igf has also established relationships with a number of leading Canadian organizations to provide world class presentations on our webinars or topical speakers at chapter events across Canada and provide on-going relevant articles for our web-site blog. fmi*igf national has also partnered with various Canadian universities in such initiatives as the Sprott School of Business-Financial Management Institute Business Case Writing Competition.

The profession's national body, Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada), represents and supports more than 190,000 members across the country. CPAs are valued for their financial and tax expertise, strategic thinking, business insight, management skills and leadership. CPA Canada has consolidated the operations of three national accounting bodies: The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Certified General Accountants of Canada and The Society of Management Accountants of Canada. CPA Canada conducts research into current and emerging business issues and supports the setting of accounting, auditing and assurance standards for business, not-for-profit organizations and government. It also issues guidance on control and governance, publishes professional literature and develops certification and continuing education programs.

Founded in 1950, AGA has a long history of being the thought leader for the government accountability profession. Through education, research, publications, certification and conferences, AGA reaches thousands of professionals and provides more than 100,000 continuing professional education (CPE) hours annually.

The Performance and Planning eXchange (PPX) is a non-profit Canada-based international centre of excellence for learning, networking, and developing expertise in performance and planning, including its measurement, implementa¬tion, public reporting, and management. PPX promotes and facilitates the sharing of information, experiences, and practices in strategic and operational planning, managing risks, measuring/evaluating, using and reporting, and understanding the contextual environment in which these activities take place to support effective public sector results-based management.
