Join FMI Edmonton to hear from the city and provincial chief economists. Catherine Rothrock has the broader provincial picture and Felicia Mutheardy will speak about how our Capital City is faring with respect to employment, inflation, downtown revitalization is going and Edmonton housing market.

Dr. Robert L. (Bob) Ascah
Dr. Robert L. (Bob) Ascah studied commerce and public administration at Carleton University and political science at the University of Alberta. He joined Alberta Federal and Intergovernmental Affairs in 1984 moving to Alberta Treasury in 1986. From 1996-2009 Ascah worked at ATB Financial. In 1999, Ascah’s Politics and Public Debt was published. From 2009-2013 he was Director of the Institute for Public Economics. He is the editor and contributor to the A Sales Tax for Alberta: Why and How. His articles have appeared in Alberta Views, The Conversation, the Calgary Herald and The Globe and Mail.

Catherine Rothrock
Catherine Rothrock is the Chief Economist for the Government of Alberta. Her team analyzes economic trends and develops forecasts to support budget and fiscal planning for the government.
Catherine started her career in the energy sector as an analyst in Calgary for Enron, UBS Warburg Energy, and Purvin & Gertz, an oil and gas consulting firm. She brought her experience to Alberta Energy in 2008, where she studied oil markets and developed the oil price forecast. In 2011, Catherine joined Alberta Treasury Board and Finance as a manager in the Economics, Demography, and Public Finance branch before serving as the Deputy Chief Economist. Catherine also has a keen interest in development which took her to Mozambique for three years, where she worked with local NGOs and learned to speak Portuguese.
Catherine holds a Master’s degree in economics from the University of Guelph.
Felicia Mutheardy
Felicia Mutheardy is the City of Edmonton’s Corporate Economist.
Felicia Mutheardy is the City of Edmonton’s Corporate Economist and has almost a decade of experience in economic analysis, research, and public policy. Prior to joining the City of Edmonton, Felicia was a Senior Economist with the Government of Alberta. She has also held various positions with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, primarily with their Market Analysis Centre.
Felicia holds both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree in Economics from Carleton University in Ottawa.
