Derek Cockburn is the Manager Financial Operations and Procurement supporting the Economy Sector ministries within the Province of British Columbia. Derek has more than 30 years of accounting and finance experience covering both the private sector and the public sector, working in both ministries and central agencies. Derek’s expertise covers such areas as financial management, procurement frameworks, strategic planning, auditing and building financial acumen.
Derek has a CPA, CGA designation, a Procurement and Contract Management Program designation (PCMP Cert.) from the Province of BC, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a major in finance and a minor in accounting, from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec.
Derek is involved in many cross-government committees, as well as a volunteer in several community-based organizations. Derek has been a dedicated member of the fmi*igf Victoria Chapter for many years, having held basically every position on the local chapter board.
