Elizabeth Doherty Assistant Deputy Minister

Elizabeth Doherty is currently the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Office of the Budget division at the Ontario Ministry of Finance. In this role, Elizabeth is responsible for leading fiscal policy and planning, coordinating and developing the government’s public fiscal documents including the Ontario Quarterly Finances, the Economic Outlook and Fiscal Review, and the Ontario Budget, as well as overseeing federal-provincial fiscal arrangements and enhancing the strategic policy capacity within MOF.

Elizabeth started her career in the Ontario Public Service in 1992.  She has held successively progressive roles within the Ontario Ministry of Finance including senior policy manager responsible for Ontario’s adoption of the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST).   Elizabeth was Director of Intergovernmental Policy with the Ontario Ministry of Infrastructure, and more recently, the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Income Security and Pension Policy in the Ontario Ministry of Finance.

Elizabeth holds a BA in Political Science from Carleton University, and a MBA from York University’s Schulich School of Business.
