The Manitoba Chapter is pleased to invite you to an in-person event June 25, 2026 Breakfast Learning Event – Living in a Higher Cost World: Hard Choices for Governments and Households
This in-person, learning event examines how global and domestic economic forces have shaped Winnipeg and Manitoba during a period of sustained uncertainty. The presentations from the City of Winnipeg and the Province of Manitoba’s economists provide a local and provincial perspective on economic shocks, fiscal pressures, and the implications for governments, businesses, and households. Jennifer Tang, a Partner from Deloitte Canada, will also present Ethics in Business.

Speakers
Jennifer Tang
Jennifer Tang is a Partner leading Deloitte’s Accounting and Reporting Advisory practice in Western Canada. With extensive experience advising clients on complex accounting matters, Jennifer brings a pragmatic and solutions-oriented approach to helping organizations navigate change and deliver value in an ever-evolving landscape. Jennifer has 15+ years of experience working with public and private sector organizations, advising on merger and acquisition activities, divestitures and carve-outs, financial due diligence, financial reporting assistance and litigation support on accounting and financial reporting matters. Jennifer also works with clients to design training programs and facilitates sessions on business ethics, and various accounting and securities regulation matters.
Paul Beckta
Paul Beckta is a Senior Economist with the City of Winnipeg’s Economic Development and Policy Office, specializing in macroeconomic analysis and modeling. Prior to joining the City of Winnipeg, Paul worked for the Manitoba Bureau of Statistics in the Government of Manitoba Paul holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics, with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Manitoba.
Conrad Barber-Dueck
Conrad is the Director of Economic and Fiscal Analysis in the Treasury Board Secretariat with the Manitoba government. In this role, Conrad is facilitating the budget writing process as well as assessing current economic conditions and providing analysis relevant to government operations on these economic trends.
Prior to working for the province, Conrad worked for thirty-one years at Statistics Canada. As Chief Economist of a section creating economic accounts for clients within the federal government, he worked on accounts measuring natural resources, clean technology, illegal cannabis production, use of plastics in the economy, the economic impact of tourism and culture and sports.
Conrad earned a Master of Economics degree at the University of Manitoba.
