The FMI Manitoba Chapter is pleased to invite you to an in-person breakfast learning event titled Government Accountability. Join us as we welcome the financial leaders that keep the government sector in check: the Auditor General of Manitoba, Winnipeg’s City Auditor and a partner in KMPG’s Risk Services practice.
The Office of the Auditor General of Manitoba provide independent information, advice, and assurance on government operations and on the management of public funds.
City of Winnipeg’s Audit Department supports City Council and the Public Service by providing objective and independent advice and assurance with respect to governance, risk management, performance and accountability.

Speakers

Tyson Shtykalo, FCPA
Tyson Shtykalo has been with the Office of the Auditor General of Manitoba since 2002. He was appointed Auditor General in August 2020, after serving as Deputy Auditor General since 2016. Tyson has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. In 2024, Tyson was recognized by CPA Manitoba through its Member Recognition Program, as a Fellow CPA (FCPA).

Jason Egert, CPA
Jason Egert is the City Auditor and has worked at the City of Winnipeg for 21 years. Jason has over 30 years of Audit and Risk Management experience. Jason has also led Audit and Risk Management departments in industry and the Winnipeg Police Service. Jason is a Chartered Professional Accountant, has a Masters of Accounting degree from University of Manitoba, is a Certified Internal Auditor and has a Certification in Risk Management Assurance.

James Barr, FCPA, FCA, CIA, CRMA
James is a Partner in KPMG’s Risk Services practice, focusing on Governance, Risk, and Compliance Services, who provides risk-based advisory and assurance services to the public sector, publicly traded companies and private organizations. He is also a Western Canadian leader of ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) Advisory and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) services, with 30 years of professional service experience.
