The FMI story
A not-for-profit national organization dedicated to providing challenging, thoughtful, inspiring, and career advancing opportunities for public sector financial management professionals.
The Financial Management Institute of Canada (FMI) is a nationally recognized and respected not-for-profit organization. For over 60 years, we have been providing professional development and networking opportunities of the highest quality to public sector financial management professionals at all levels of government. Our national and regional events focus on major trends, innovation, leadership, and best practices that are embraced by the public sector around the world.
Throughout the year, FMI offers a mix of annual professional development events at both the national and regional level. These events consistently feature recognized experts from across Canada and around the world. Many of these are CPD eligible with the opportunity to earn credits towards CPA certification.
PD Week
Our flagship program
PD Week is FMI’s longest running, premiere professional development and networking event for financial management professionals. Since its inception in 1962, FMI has built PD Week into the most anticipated, largest, and longest running event of its kind in Canada. PD Week consistently attracts thousands of financial management professionals at all stages of their career, from all levels of government, and from across Canada.

14 regional Chapters across Canada complement the Financial Management Institute’s mission to Challenge, Inspire and Educate.
