Understanding and Maximizing Emotional and Mental Well Being
Tony Showchuk will be presenting to the fmi Regina Chapter on Understanding and Maximizing Emotional and Mental Well Being. The focus of this session will be to give a high level understanding of what mental health is, the importance of maintaining good mental health, the 2 most common mental health concerns as well as treatments with a focus on self-care and the importance of facilitating healthy restful sleep.
Tony Showchuk, SaskTel’s HR Director of STEPPP, Wellness, Respectful Workplace and Systems and Reporting has been with SaskTel 20 years. STEPPP is the acronym for the SaskTel Employee Personal Problem Program which has been an Internal Employee Family Assistance Program at SaskTel since 1983 – one of the oldest EFAP’s not only in Saskatchewan but also Canada. With STEPPP being an internal EFAP program, Tony and the STEPPP team research, develop and implement many programs for SaskTel employees including presentations and seminars pertaining to a variety of topics relating to wellbeing.
Prior to coming to SaskTel Tony worked for the Regina Health District (as known at that time) for just under 10 years as a health consultant. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree as well as a Masters of Health Sciences and over the years has sat on numerous Boards and Committees including; the Family Service Bureau of Regina Board, Youth Ballet Company of Saskatchewan Board, Autism Resource Center Board and currently is still a member of the SaskTel Helping Our Own People Board, Chair of SaskTel EnviroCare and the President of the Canadian Employee Assistance Program Association.
