In recent years, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) have become a formidable force in the financial markets.  Erika Toth, Director at BMO ETFs, joins us to discuss the inner workings of ETFs and some of the misunderstandings surrounding these products.

The FMI Capital Chapter has the following exciting, innovative, interactive on-line PD program for the coming Fall-Winter-Spring Season.

Welcome to the Capital Chapter Professional Development (PD) Webinar Series aimed at continuing to support your professional development with practical experience and hands-on advice from leaders in the public sector.

Each traditional PD Day has been converted into a Professional Development Stream organized by themes.  We will offer four streams in total.  Individual webinar sessions within each Professional Development Stream are spread out throughout the year to make the time commitment easier to integrate with other priorities.

By registering and participating for a mid-season passport you will earn up to 24 PDU credits and also have access to a full recording of the sessions for future reference.

As we transition to a virtual PD Webinar Series, we are offering the following registration options for participants:

FMI-CC learning days are structured to include strategic speakers as well as interactive workshops and case studies. These learning events offer thought-provoking, interactive and engaging sessions. Horizontal themes including: Communication, Leadership, Change Agents, Competencies & Results, Technical Skills and Values and Ethics are also addressed.

The FMI-CC professional development program is time well spent in gathering both a strategic perspective and practical tools to take back to the office. This is an excellent way to earn your professional development credits.

Stream 2: Personal and Professional Development 

This stream will provide an opportunity to learn about some of the tools and techniques applicable to today’s work environment, and strategies for adapting to the challenges and opportunities of this dynamic world.

Session 1: September 28, 2021 – From FI-1 to EX-1: Lessons Learned from a Finance Officer (Speaker: Danielle Lawlor, Director, Strong, Secure, Engaged (SSE) Financial Strategies at the Department of National Defence)

Session 2: January 11, 2022 – How to brief senior executives

Session 3: March 8, 2022 – Personal finance / wealth management post COVID

Session 4: May 31, 2022 – Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs)
