Professional Development Workshop

CPA Canada Update with Paul Martin, Comptroller, Province of New Brunswick and PSAB Update with Bailey Church, KPMG.

Workshop is equivalent to one and one-half (1.5) PD Credit.

Speakers

  • Paul Martin, FCPA, FCA Comptroller, Province of NB Finance and Treasury Board

    Mr. Martin is the Comptroller for the Province of New Brunswick with oversight of accounting, internal audit, enterprise risk management, financial systems and consulting. He has 33 years experience in public practice as a former partner with a National accounting firm and 5 years with the Provincial Government. Paul is a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant and a past president of the New Brunswick Institute of Chartered Accountants. He currently serves as a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada’s Public Financial Management Advisory Committee, the Public Sector Accounting Board’s Financial Instruments Working Group, the Public Sector Accounting Discussion Group and the Employment Benefits Task Force.

  • Bailey Church, CPA, CA, CIA Partner, Accounting Advisory Services KPMG LLP

    Bailey is the Leader of KPMG’s National Public Sector Accounting Advisory service line. His more than 20 years of experience includes substantial work in internal audit, financial management, accounting, and financial reporting matters within the public sector environment. Bailey has advised all levels of governments across the country on complex accounting matters. He has worked with multiple municipalities on asset retirement obligations; contaminated sites; and other environmental liabilities. Bailey is currently serving as the Chair of CPA Canada’s task force to develop an accounting standard for public private partnerships.
